Inspiration Rules V4.1

These rules are under constant playtest, and you may expect revisions every so often. These rules are also interactive. For them to work, the Player needs to remind themselves and the DM of their traits and flaws.

  • Every character starts off each SESSION with 1 inspiration dice, or SESSION DIE. These inspiration dice work exactly as PHB rules except as follows:
  • You can use a die on any d20 normally effected by Inspiration, no restriction. If used as such, the die is simply lost.
  • If you use a die in a situation that is related to a Trait, Ideal or Flaw, the dice is retained.
  • If you use a die in a situation that is both related to a Trait, Ideal or Flaw AND is Awesome in doing so, the dice is retained and you get a 50 x lvl exp reward.
  • Final decision on dice loss, dice retainment and exp bonuses is the DM’s responsibility.
In addition, you have a INSPIRATION POOL that persists between sessions. These inspiration dice work exactly as PHB rules except as follows:
  • You can use a die on any d20 normally effected by Inspiration, no restriction. When used as such, the die is lost.
  • If you use a die in a situation that is related to a Trait, Ideal or Flaw, or in a way that is Awesome, you get a 50 x lvl exp reward. The dice is still lost.
  • Once again, Final decision on exp bonuses is the DM’s Responsibility.
You add inspiration dice to your INSPIRATION POOL by acting within your Trait,Ideal or Flaw, or simply acting in an Awesome way without the use of Inspiration dice. The maximum dice that can be in your INSPIRATION POOL at any one time is same as your Proficiency bonus.
